The Cinema that isn't there (Sudan #4)

In a time before the current civil war in Sudan I had a chance to film about the cinema scene in Khartoum. Problem being, that consecutive regimes didn't allow them to be active. There is a fantastic documentary about this called "talking about trees" where 4 elder cinephiles and former directors try to open an abndonded open air cinema. I met the awesome gang and we had a wonderful exciting time walking this abandonded in Omdurman. The seceret police also showed up and asked questions. Until this day, no cinema has been opened...

Wow this is a great documentary. Proof that movie are scared by the regime. The abandoned condition of the movie theatre remind me of my own hometown. So many legendary but being an abandoned building movie theatre now, not brcause of war but because of netflix

<3 @hervinsyah yes I also love the slow and empathetic approach of the documentary. And don't these abandonded places tell so much about the human condition?
