View of the city Aksay

Aksay is a city in Russia, administrative center of aksaysky district of Rostov region. The population — 44 279 people.

The city is located in the South-East of the Russian plain, in the southwestern part of Rostov region, on the steep right Bank of the bend of the don river, at the confluence of her sleeves Aksay.
Aksay is one of the closest cities to Rostov-on-don, while 12 km to the northeast from its center (closer only Bataysk).
The first written mention of the settlement located on the territory of the city of Aksai, dated back to 1570.
Cossack town was repeatedly exposed to devastating invasions by Turks, Crimean Tatars and Nogais. However, the convenient location on the high Bank at the confluence of the river don with the Aksai, at the intersection of roads leading to the capital of the don Cossacks — the Cherkassk (nowadays Starocherkassk of the article), again and again attracted people.
