The jewel that gives its name to the Tennōji district is the majestic Shi-Tennoji Temple, a complex with an elegant pagoda at its center. It is one of the oldest temples in Japan, as the first version was built 15 centuries ago. Rebuilt many times since, it retains its archaic style, a testament to the Heian period. It is also worth visiting for its annexes, as around the main temple are other interesting buildings, a picturesque cemetery, and more—a timeless interlude that allows us to forget the hustle and bustle of Osaka.
