family photographs from 1930s and 1940s

My great grandfather was a avid photographer, often taking his camera with him photographing people and the streets of Newcastle upon Tyne.

He was a quirky personality, loved ventriloquist dummies and putting on a show. After he died his negatives and prints where thrown into a box where they sat for 50 or so years until his daughter (my grandmother) found them and gave them to me to preserve.

@herbert-4 I cant be 100% sure but I have seen later pictures of my grandfather with a Six-20 folding brownie... from what I know he had a massive camera collection, even back then so it would be pretty hard to determine the ones that took these haha. :)

Thanks! My grandmother had a "Corona Camara #115" (spelled like that) that was like a huge tin lunchbox. 115 giant roll films, 8 shots. the drugstore contact printed the negs, 4 1/2 x 6 1/2, for prints. It focused, had apertures and shutter speeds and look down viewfinders. Photos and camera disappeared when she died, with other stuff from her house, sneak thieves, I guess. I was 7. Hollywood, 1957. The old camera I still have and use is this: www.lomography.tw/magazine/lifestyle/2011/12/17/rolleiflex-… and a few old photos: www.lomography.tw/homes/herbert-4/albums/1946767-1972-photo… and: www.lomography.tw/homes/herbert-4/albums/1946513-1977-rathe… Enjoy!!

Great photographs!, I really like the history in them.
My grandmother fell into possession of my great grandfathers cameras after he died.
Unfortunately I was only a child and by the time I started taking photographs many of his cameras in the loft had rotted and rusted away due to a leaky roof which was a shame.
But my grandfather saved a Zenit-E with a Hoya 28mm lens that he used himself that I inherited when I was 11... I have kept it in good condition I still use it on occasion, though my camera arsenal has grown over the years haha. :)
