forbidden love

Probably the most exciting and touching film from my grandfather's legacy.
The negatives are labeled "War holiday 1943. Schäftlarn, Tyrol, at home".
The woman in the pictures is Matilde, my grandfather's girlfriend at the time - perhaps the last time the two of them spent together, because my great-grandparents disapproved of the relationship and did not agree to a wedding.

    hu, da kriegt man echt ein wenig gänsehaut, wenn man sich da reindenkt.
    aber du siehst deinem opa schon ähnlich. tolle idee mit der leica geschichte.

    @stereograph Danke! Ja, ich finde auch dass ich ihm ähnlich sehe. Ich kriege auch voll die Gänsehaut, das hier waren wohl seine letzten glücklichen Tage...

    They would have made a nice couple, sad story but amazing that those images made it through the wartime and you've got that feeling of having witnessed that particular moment in time. In years to come, with mobile phone photography, that's gone !
