   Even better. I entered a digital photo of a fantail flitting about in our kitchen to one of the monthly competitions my camera club runs. Normally, they're lightning fast and don't sit long enough to shoot, but this wee fella did. The person judging the photo didn't know that, and apparently was quite impressed with the capture.

   @lizkoppert I hadn't come across the fantail, so I looked it up: it has a similar appearance to our wagtails

   Never heard of Wagtails, so had to look THEM up! Do wagtails fan their tails out like a Victorian handheld fan? I suspect that's how fantails here got their English name.

    Nice to see a bird in common with the UK. In Southern California these are plentiful. They seem to play group games noisily in the lighted morning.
