LomoGuru of the Week: Bebopbebop
34 42 Share TweetIt’s been less than two years since this guy joined our Community but the friendship he has made is definitely more than the time of his stay!
His weapons of choice are the La Sardina and some slide film — and with that combination, his Lomographs leave him with little fail. He comes from Indonesia but thanks the Lomography Community for taking him to places he has only imagined. Aside from that, he has also combined his personal love to his love for analogue through a series of photos!
I guess I should leave the introduction to this guy’s interview! Say hello to bebopbebop, this week’s LomoGuru!
Name: Andaru Bebop Waskito
Lomography Username: bebopbebop
Location: Bandung, Indonesia
Number of years as a Lomographer: 1.3 years
Number of years in the Community: 1.3 years
Tell us something about your LomoHome’s name.
Bebopbebop is from my nickname, Bebop. My Dad, who loves jazz so much, gave me that name. Bebop is one of jazz music’s style. If I have to have a different LomHhome name, it would be… Mmm.. I can’t think of any other name. How about “peterparker”? Or “ryangosling” or maybe “gordon-levitt”? Hahaha! I really don’t know.
Share to us your most memorable experience in the Lomographic Community.
There are so many memorable experiences in the Community. From being LomoHome of the Day in October 2012 , and being Photo of the Day exactly on Christmas day. It was also a memorable experience to be a LomoAmigo and now a LomoGuru. But my most precious experience is now that I have a lot of new friends because of Lomography. Both in Indonesia and internationally.
Have you actually met people in the Community that you now consider as close friends? If yes, name at least one of them.
Well, spidey27 and robotto_dawad are already friends of mine for a long time. And I met Lomographers from Bandung like istionojr, ping-junior, kuryzu, hervinsyah and many others. But I really love to hang out with my real Guru, adi_totp! We share gossips and Tipster, we laugh like crazy, we discuss football games, and of course we do film swaps!
On the other hand, I haven’t had a chance to meet my friends from other countries. I hope I can meet kathepalacio, lostlittlekid, sobetion, ophelia, goonies, and many more someday. I also want to meet my Lomo idols such as atria007 and blueskyandhardrock or perhaps ccwu and hodachrome
Do you think you’ll still be taking Lomographs in the next 5 years? Why?
Yes of course. This hobby is really a big part of my life. Just talking about it makes me happy. I will be much more productive taking Lomographs, and will passionately color my life with films.
What is your favorite Lomo camera and why? Do you have any memorable experiences while using this camera?
My favorite are my La Sardina and LC-Wide. The La Sardina has always been my first love, I bring it everywhere I go and I can’t believe that most of my popular photos are taken with this cool camera. The LC-Wide is my dream camera that I finally bought last Christmas. I hope my La Sardina is not jealous of my LC-Wide!
Please share your most favourite Lomographic photo that you took and explain why.
I think this one. This is my first shot with the LC-Wide and I think this is one of the photos that I can’t get off my mind. I just love it.
A Lomograph you wish you took? Why?
I wish I took this photo by ccwu! I saw this photo before I owned a camera. This photo is one of the reasons why I started doing Lomography… A beautiful lady lying on the sand with a strong summer feeling. And this photo also confused me between choosing a Diana F+ or a La Sardina as my first [Lomographic] camera.
What’s the best Lomographic or photography advice you think you have given?
“Your first 10,000th photograph is your worst.”- Henri Cartier-Bresson. So, don’t stop and let curiosity surround you!
If there’s one song or movie that best describes your Lomo life, what is that and why?
I think it would be “First Choice” by Gabe Bondoc. This is one of my favorite songs. It is about a man talking to a girl, telling her that he is deeply falling for her. I think that this song represents me talking to my La Sardina! Haha. After being in doubt which camera to choose, the La Sardina will always be my first choice. And the beautiful acoustic guitar in this song shows how I play my life along with Lomography: relaxing, passionate, and full of young love.
Is there any advice you can give to new analogue shooters?
Bring your camera everywhere you go, understand your camera, and then you can shoot without thinking. Last but not least, put a smile on your face!
