Share to us your most memorable experience in the Lomographic Community.

Aside from being chosen as a Lomo Guru, it’s a tough one, Hahaha! If I had any memorable experience in the online Community, it’s being picked as the LomoHome of the Day and, on a separate day, being picked as the Photo of the Day.

I’m always honoured when the Lomographs that I’ve taken end up being featured on the site; it inspires me to be more creative. It also makes me happy to think that there’s a chance that my photo can reach out and inspire someone in the same way that others inspire me.

Have you actually met people in the Community that you now consider as close friends? If yes, name at least one of them.

Yes! I’ve actually met several Filipino Lomographers that are active here in the Community. The first few Lomographers that I’ve talked to were @icuresick @superkulisap and @projectsnap. After joining my first LomoWalk, I was able to join the local Lomo group that is Shutter Revolution. After the first few months in the group, I’ve made several new friends, namely @boobert, @renenob, @walasiteodito, and @hans12.
It’s a really close group and it’s been a fun ride ever since! I’m always enthusiastic in meeting fellow Lomographers, may it be local or international.

Do you think you’ll still be taking Lomographs in the next 5 years? Why?

Most definitely! It calms me down, yet it makes me giddy; it fuels my thoughts, and it never fails to remind me how wonderful this planet is. It keeps me smiling and it keeps me striving to be better. It’s the only hobby that I’ve really enjoyed and it will remain as my favourite pastime.

There are also a lot of people who share the same passion as me, there’s no need for words, their Lomographs speak for themselves. Those are the kind of people who inspire me to be better. There are way too many names to write down; the list in my mind is big, in fact, it’s so big that you are most probably in it! Yes, you!

What is your favorite Lomo camera and why? Do you have any memorable experiences while using this camera?

The LOMO LC-A+! It’s fairly easy to learn, and is really portable. The vignetting is great, the auto-exposure feature is really handy for taking quick photos, and the “swirly” bokeh is a plus! I love bringing it every day and shooting random Lomographs.

One of my most memorable experiences with this camera was during our vacation in Boracay. I used to think twice on shooting sunsets mainly because the other cameras in my arsenal either had fixed settings or faulty battery contacts; but when I had the LC-A+ in hand, I became confident and shot away at the amazing scenery, and it turned out pretty great.

Is there any advice you can give to new analogue shooters?

Reach out to others, you’ll probably learn a lot from others and they might learn from you as well. It’s a win-win condition, a mutual benefit!

Be open to criticism; It’s never bad to get criticized, so set your pride aside and accept it. It’ll probably help you to improve.

Be a scientist, research and experiment! It’s wise to research first so you’ll have a clue about what you’re gonna do. If you can’t find anything online, then experiment away and document it, so everybody can learn from it.

And lastly, always remember the Golden Rule #10: Don’t worry about any rules. Keep shooting and enjoy yourself!

They are the ones whose passion transcends not only by what they do and say, but also with what they see and capture with their film cameras. And with such attributes aforementioned, they are what we call LomoGurus! Every week, we get to ask questions and reveal some insights with the most talented and productive of all Lomographers from the Community!
