Hi Trevor! Introduce yourself to the Lomography community.

I’m a film photographer based in Sacramento, California who loves to capture everyday life. For the past three years, I’ve been the chief photographer for TheDarkroom.com — I create and coordinate all their social media content.

How did you first discover your passion for photography?

I started shooting film my last year of college in 2009 but fell in love with film while living in Yosemite from 2013-15.

What do you enjoy most about shooting film?

As my wife, Hannah, says— "Film is the handwritten note of photography.” Film feels more meaningful and intentional to me which helps me make every frame count and since I shoot less I get to enjoy/experience what I am photographing. Shooting film is also very therapeutic for me - I enjoy capturing everyday moments and aimlessly working around photographing what how I see the world.

Tell us more about your experience with the Metropolis film. What was your concept behind this shoot?

Aside from accidentally opening the back of the camera and exposing some of the film, which is only the second time I’ve ever done, that I love it. I like the muted tone, the pure whites, and the rich blacks. I really look forward to shooting more of it around Sacramento.

Pick a photo and tell us the story behind it.

I like the two Pancake Circus shots because it’s a diner I've driven by countless times but never photographed before. It was the first thing I thought of photographing with this film because I just felt it was the perfect film for that scene and no other film would do it justice. I cannot wait to get more Metropolis to photograph that scene more!

What was your favorite thing about shooting with the Metropolis ?

I like that it's different than all other color stocks — it will be a fun film to photograph places I’ve photographed many times before since it will proceed a much different looks and will help me see the ordinary in much different way!

Trev--I liked your shoot for this film. I got a much better feel for film from your shoot than the others, perhaps because the images appealed to me more--more my style. I don't shoot models so while Chris Bs photos were good, I did not get the feel for the film that I needed to see. I also like and appreciate your videos for The Darkroom Lab.
