Learned a lot today...

1. I LOVE Lomography Xpro 200 colors!

2. Close up filters and Petzval are a good combo!

3. Need to use a finer grain film with Petzval lens.

4. Not as stable as I thought, next time take a tripod for macro shooting!

@alienmeatsack and @clickiemcpete As requested, some Petzval x Close up filter combo shots. It does work perfectly, but today of all days I left my tripod at home, so I couldn't really use the +10 filter. Next time ;-)

Cool stuff @sandravo - Nice to see that the close up filters work well with the Petzval. I swear these shots look and feel -very- similar to the stuff I've done using my Miranda 50mm lens and close up lenses. Even the bush you have shot a bunch looks like the one in my yard. I think that Auto Miranda lens has very Petzval like bokeh.

    Sort of like:

Oops I guess it doesn't. At least the links work. :D I am curious how much DOF you gain if you reduce your aperture disc when doing closeup lenses, if any. I have noticed on most of my cameras that the close up lenses pretty much take over the depth of field completely and even if you have the aperture as tiny as a pinhole, you are still limited to what the CUL itself can focus on.

@alienmeatsack Using the close up filters takes out a lot of the background, so the swirly bokeh falls mostly out of sight. You are right about the Miranda lens, combined with macro it does look like the petzval with macro. The pic of the cherry blossom (if that's what it is) is gorgeous!

No idea about gaining DOF when closing down the aperture... Only the 2.2 plate has made it in that lens so far :-)

LOL on the 2.2 aperture plate, @sandravo - I am pretty sure I'd shoot it at the largest aperture all the time as well. Maybe once the weather lightens up and Spring puts some color back into nature we will see all sorts of new and interesting stuff with your Petzval. And maybe mine if I can save back enough to get one. :D
