The Beirette Electronic is a compact camera created in 1981 by Beier - who had become a part of Pentacon the year before. It is a cheap but cute small camera, with aperture priority and zone focusing. Easy and nice to use.

Tokyo is a testament to what humankind can achieve. Whenever I walked its streets, I feel like a dust surrounded by giant sand castles - or like the little boy in Abbas Kiarostami’s “Where is The Friend’s House?” In a place such as Tokyo, it is easy to get lost, both literally and figuratively. I’ve always been an early bird, a 4 am kind of early bird. I was raised that way. It’s one of the things I keep with me wherever I am, like a compass that redirects me whenever I begin to slightly sway away from my path and get… lost. #35mm #blackandwhite

If I had to choose a place in Tokyo to go spend a weekend in, Shinjuku would be the last on my list. Maybe it’s because of the rural tropical countryside life I lived for a big chunk of my nearly three decade old life. The largest crowd I had ever seen prior was that of the dozens of my local hometown fishermen at the docks selling their fresh catches. Shinjuku was none of that. Though I did go there on account of spending a quality weekend time with my friends. Shot two rolls initially, one Ilford HP5 and this Arista EDU 400. Ruined the HP5 roll as I accidentally opened the camera’s back before rewinding it while I was talking with my friend. I kept on rewinding with the back opened for a good half minute until I finally realized it. Well, it happens…

For these last few pictures I have from this roll, I want to highlight the feeling that’s often associated with Tokyo; loneliness. It’s true, if you observe the street and people in it from morning to late night like I did. It’s evident. You can see it on the faces of the passersby. It’s like when you keep the light switch on even though the lightbulb is dimming and flickering - you still need the light, but it wants to give up. That’s why I never photographed inside the train here, it’s like everyone’s light switch is off.

Without a doubt, the most beautiful excursion of our stay in Ushuaia: the boat trip on the Beagle Channel. It was cold, but what a spectacle. The sea wolves, the wild birds, the scouts' lighthouse, the spectacular natural setting, the location of the two opposing shores, the Chilean to the south, the Argentinian to the north. The choice of Sunbath film was more than appropriate, and I did well to bring my 300mm zoom.
