Homeless

This man was sitting outside a McDonald's in Washington D.C. I didn't have anything but a dollar in my pocket and my camera with me so I walked up to him and kindly asked if I could take a photo of him, offering him the dollar in return. He agreed and ended up telling me a long story about how georgetown has changed over the years and how he's been on the street all these years watching everything transform. I lived in D.C. for 3 years and it changed a whole lot in such a short time...I can't imagine what he must have seen being there his entire life. Even though things were tough for him he was smiling the entire time he talked.

This roll of film sat in my camera for almost 6 months in the worst conditions possible (hot steamy cars, baking in sunlight near the window, etc.) I wasn't able to process it any sooner. Well it turns out that the terrible conditions ruined the entire roll...except for this photo. Even though it's in rough shape...I'm very proud of how it turned out.

The deterioration actually adds value to the shot! This couldn't turn out better.
If I were you I wouldn't approach him. Thinking I would disrespect him even though every human being likes to be noticed. Props for your determination . Class A shot!

great job, and good approach, the eye contact between him and camera show's that you showed him respect and not just snapped snapshot of some homeless guy that you walk by (that's showing disrespect for people in lower class in my books)
