An important centre of Gaelic culture. Known as "An t-Eilean Sgitheanach" in Scottish Gaelic, the Isle of Skye is the largest and most northerly of the Inner Hebrides. Once the disputed territory of both the MacLeod and Donald clans, the island is rich in ancient monuments.

An ancient adult-sized playground. The name of this monolithic rock formation on the Trotternish peninsula of the Isle of Skye means "Great Man" in Old Norse. It forms part of a series of gigantic basalt rock formations that leave a teeth-like silhouette on the horizon.

Remote, isolated and gorgeous. Lewis and Harris or Leòdhas agus na Hearadh in the Outer Hebrides is the largest island in Scotland. Lewis, to the north, has a relatively flat landscape and is home to the island's main(only) city(large town), Stornoway or Steòrnabhagh and also the five thousand-year-old megalithic monument at Calanais.

What the ancients did before TV. This cromlech (Callanish I) in Callanais on the west coast of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides, dates from around 3000 BC and is the largest of a number of stone circles that dominate the surrounding landscape.

Lewis and Harris oder Leòdhas agus na Hearadh auf den Äußeren Hebriden ist die größte Insel Schottlands.
