I would never have thought that I will ever be in a Favela, not even imagined sleeping there. But the beautiful thing about life is, that things just happen. Even before I visited my friends Bru and Andi in Brazil they had chatted about a hostel in Rio de Janeiro, that is located on top of a Favela with a splendid view on the city and the sugarloaf.

There are few places in the world, which I have visited because of one pictures I have seen of it. Such a place is the Real Gabinete Português de Leitura. A colonial library in the centre of Rio. A couple of years ago I was intrigued by a massive grand format picture from Andreas Gursky. He is one of the most famous photographers of our time, he surely is the most expensive one. His technique is to manipulate and enlarge pictures. His topic is the gathering of large groups and the enhancements of architectonic structures. He also chose the Gabinete as a sujet and that was, why I went there.

Between the cities of Rio de Janeiro and the sister city of Niteroi, there is a bridge. The view is really astonishing, mostly at morning and sunset, when is possible to see the bay glowing red, blue or green.

Urca is a super quiet yet nice place for hiking, climbing or just for a relaxing weekend. There are also some nice eateries that you can visit along the way. A sunny afternoon in this exciting neighborhood in Rio de Janeiro can also make for beautiful photos, just bring your lomo camera!

Entre as cidades do Rio de Janeiro e sua irmã Niterói, existe uma ponte. A vista dessa ponte é realmente impressionante, principalmente pela manhã e no fim do dia, quando é possível ver a Baía de Guanabara brilhando em tons de vermelho, azul e verde.
