Cambodia in Squares: LC-A 120 Shots by Aston Husumu Hwang

Aston Husumu Hwang is a photographer based in Seoul, Korea. On a trip to Cambodia, he brought the Lomo LC-A 120 to shoot some monochromatic black and white shots.

When did you first become involved with photography?

When I was a kid I was always curious about cameras and photography, so I can’t remember exactly when I got into it but it's always been a part of my life.

What attracted you specifically to analog photography?

Nothing, digital and analog is the same for me. But you know it’s kinda same as food I think. I don’t like fast food, I like slow and homemade food, same as film photography. Anyway film can be too annoying when it comes to taking pictures with, but it makes me happier, this is why I’m using it.

Tell us more about this trip with Lomo LC-A 120.

Oh yeah, it was too fun! Thanks for this, Lomography! I went to Cambodia with it, had damn great time! Cambodia’s sunlight was too great, but it was easy to shoot with the LC-A 120, I just kept pressing the shutter button, didn't have to think. I also had my Leica M3 but I shot more pics with the LC-A 120. Because it’s so easy!

Do you have ongoing or upcoming projects that you would like to tell the community about?

I’m setting up a company -- it’s about art and culture. I'm gonna make some art books/zines and will do exhibitions at my space. Club Beach Club, it’s the name of my new thing. Please remember this name!
